Asturia Holding is named after the province of Asturias in the North of Spain. Our founder and CEO, Edwin Korver, has part of his roots in the region of Asturias in the North of Spain. The image above is most typical for the area. To store grain from rodents, Asturiers built wooden sheds on stone pillars called horreos. Edwin’s father was named after one of the early kings of the Kingdom of Asturias, Rey Aurelio. Coincidentally, the silo part of the name of our subsidiary, Cross-Silo, points to his successor, Rey Silo. At the same time, the cross-part may refer to Asturias being the first Christian entity after the Moors conquered the Visigothic peninsula of Hispania. Anyway, we’re proud of our descent and like to share the region’s beauty.
